Road Trip, Part 2, Day 5 - LA

We decided to take PUBLIC TRANSPORT to get to the tour pick-up. We had to walk to the bus stop and then take two different buses. Bus stops were not exactly in the most savory spots... But, on the second bus, we had a special guest star. He wasn’t exactly muttering to himself - he was pretty much yelling to some imaginary ‘friend’ about the conspiracy theories of the past, God, senseless mumbo-jumbo...  It was actually kind of frightening. I didn’t want to look at him or make any sudden movements.

And, then we stayed on the bus too long because we did not hear our stop announced so we had to backtrack back to the Chinese Theater which goes by a couple different names. Finally, we found our bus tour and were on our way.  We went down the Sunset Strip and Rodeo Drive. We got off at the Farmer’s Market/The Grove and had a delightful lunch. But, the paparazzi arrived so we had to be on our way. We decided to walk to Pink’s Hot Dogs which was a good long walk through some neighborhoods. Which was a good thing since the hot dogs were our ‘dessert’!

We hopped back on the bus and due to my complete and utter failure to plan, we took the first part of the ‘red’ tour again in order to get to the ‘yellow’ bus to take us to the Santa Monica pier. We stopped at a place for Happy Hour and then walked along the walkway of the beach. It was actually pretty cool and very windy. But we got to the pier in time for sunset. Then, it was back to the public bus to get “home”. This time it was a direct route home but still took nearly an hour. Oh, did I mention that fact earlier? Yup, even though we were in LA, it took us over an hour to get less than halfway across it. And, there apparently is no direct trains from LAX to downtown. Not sure how that works? Anywho, we were treated to another ‘special’ guest on the ride home. She didn’t really mutter or shout to herself, she just kinda smiled at people. Her dress was inside-out and she brought a stack of junk with her. But then changed seats and just left it there. People started to move to the back of the bus because she was quite fragrant. Some people had their shirts/sleeves over their noses but I was just a couple rows from her and believe me, I’ve smelled worse at work.

In any case, she finally did get off and I just wondered just where she was going to? We got off a bit later and had to make our <scary> way back to the hotel...where it was an early nightie-night after a long, hot day.
