RT, P2, Day 3 - Hoover Dam-Vega$

Another early day! I think I must have ‘jet lag’ from the 2 hour time difference ;) because I am getting up before the crack of dawn. Today, I was up at 5AM. So, without showering or putting on make-up (YES YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST), I put a jacket on over my jammies and we went out for a sunrise HIKE. Yes, we HIKED. It was pretty awesome.

Then we were off to Hoover Dam (after a $15 McDonald’s breakfast). We took a little detour down Route 66 but didn’t really see any kitsch. But, we can say we drove the Mother Road.

Hoover Dam has changed since my last visit. They build this huge, beautiful bridge, visitor center and a parking deck. We took the Powerplant Tour - again, I am facing my claustrophobia each day (it wasn’t even bad). We walked across the dam (where I’m pretty sure we could have fried eggs) and they don’t have the AZ/NV border line in the middle anymore either. There is just a plaque on the side probably because too many people were trying to take pictures and clogging traffic.

Onward to Vega$! We stayed at Luxor and after a brief rest, we decided to use the BOGO coupons for drinks. Well....  let me tell you, you need those coupons because the drinks are twice the price they should be! I thought I remember Vega$ being fairly reasonable? But, mixed drinks were $12/each, they wanted $19 for a glass of wine! I can’t say it stopped us...  We just did a little casino/bar hopping and ended up on Fremont Street before calling it a night.

I think total, we spent $6 on the slots.

Having a little technically difficulty uploading photos, but will do as soon as a quality internet connection allows!
